Our Story
GigToGoal is our answer to a question that bewildered us—why are so many people taking side gigs that have nothing to do with their skills? Electricians doing rideshare; teachers walking dogs; carpenters delivering packages; plumbers assembling IKEA furniture . . . we couldn’t help but ask, “WTH?”
It’s clear that people want to take advantage of the gig economy, and why not? A side gig may be just the thing to help make ends meet, or to save up for something special. Their “take any work that comes along” approach confirms that people need the work—and that they aren’t looking for handouts.
But a lot of these people end up quitting out of frustration when the work isn’t a fit for their skills (not to mention the terrible pay that comes with most of these so-called “gig economy” jobs.) After all, there’s a reason why nearly all app-based gig services will hire anyone, and have a quit rate of well over 75%. “No skill required” = low pay = miserable worker = bad service.
It occurred to us that the “one size fits all” approach to side work ignores the most valuable thing people have to offer: their skills and experience. Most people spend years building a solid work history and resume, yet they dismiss their most valuable asset in accepting low-paying, unskilled side work.
We set out to create a way for those with a solid work ethic and a desire to achieve savings goals to focus on side work that matches their skills. We don’t just help people find side gigs. We help them land the right side gigs. And our hard-working hustlers keep every dollar they earn.
